I've found that I come across interesting pieces of information very easily. Sometimes I don’t even realize how it happens. For this post I would have liked to tell you how I came across this specifically, but I don’t really recall. When I find articles that I don’t have time to read at that moment I either save it to my computer’s bookmark or I email the link to myself. This I found scrolling down my bookmarked pages.
I don’t listen to NPR very often nor do I stay frequent with TED Talks, but every now and then I come across some really amazing talks that I can’t help but want to share.
I’d like my readers to take a listen to supermodel Cameron Russell’s talk, “Does Being Beautiful Make You Happy.”

For those men and women who think being a model means having the most confidence in the world, you could be very surprised by Russell’s response. I also have the link to a playlist of the TED radio hour on the topic of beauty from npr.org. I appreciate the honesty Russell shares of how confident she really is and how she “won a genetic lottery and is a recipient of a legacy… defined by [having a] tall slender figure, and femininity, and having white skin.” She understands how the world perceives her and she benefits from it. But she took the time to research and write a talk about this topic so we can take away how important image can really be to people and how it could be misconstrued and be superficial.
Again, I highly recommend you listen to the playlist on beauty. It doesn't only refer to physical and attractive beauty of human beings but beauty in other aspects; of art and music for example. The good way that we perceive things is what makes it beautiful, because there is a neurological response to it that is sometimes difficult to explain. So, I’ll let you think about that till next time.
