This is a segment that I will call “Profiles.” These profile posts will be based on women that I know that are proud to be their ethnicity and have genuinely beautiful personalities. Along with their portraits, I will have written: what their culture is, what is their favorite feature of themselves (physical, behavioral, intellectual/cognitive, and etc.) and why, and what beauty means to them and any possible advice that they have for other females. Hopefully, these examples will encourage other women to be more proud of their cultures and embrace their uniqueness. Along with that, I’d hope others could discover their favorite feature of themselves and why that is. It’s all about building confidence in your own skin. “Don’t think about what you’re lacking; just think about what you’re packing.” | Arnelle is African American. She was born in Ghana and grew up in the United States. Her favorite feature is her smile because she believes it “allows [her] to exude [her] confidence and personality. And [she’s] not trying to be cocky about.” She has such a genuine smile; I can see why she loves it so much. She believes that beauty is being really unique. She explains that we are living in a society where everybody wants to look the same, and to her that’s just boring. This doesn’t only pertain to looks but personality as well. The one thing that she wants all women to know is that they should love themselves and be okay with who they are. |
